Taekwondo, or the way of the hand and foot, is a Korean striking art. The main focuses are forms, sparring, self-defense practice, and board-breaking. The course would entail a great emphasis on aerobic and anaerobic training, stretching to increase flexibility and athleticism, understanding the philosophy of the art, learning the Korean terminology, practicing the foot and hand techniques by yourself, on targets, on heavy bags, then finally on each other when you spar. Also learning the poomse, or forms, that coincide with your rank. Aspects like self-defense and board-breaking are also practiced regularly in the class.
